Ok we had Rowan in to start pre-school in Sept. But we've pulled his name from the list. The prayed inspection was quite frankly appalling and they failed badly on teaching.

What do I do now? This place was in walking distance of the flat (right outthe back) but the next closest one is about a 30 minute walk. I can drive but I don't want to have to be driving and picking up OH from work as well.

I just don't know what to do for the best

I walk an hour round trip to school everyday... tbh you get used to it and it'll burn off them baby pounds Very Happy is it attached to his primary school?

In the warm weather you can walk, if its snowing it'll probably close anyhow.. and who minds a bit of rain... Rowan needs the best start as it sets them up for learning for life..

Lewis (11) went to the local nursery attached to his primary. Loved it was teachers pet, top of class academically, but at the end of reception he got bullied, by his best mate.. eventually, I moved him after giving school a chance, to a school 30 mins away and tbh he has always suffered with his learning, been on extra help, lacks confidence.. Owen (6) however went straight into Lewis' schools nursery and is flying.. So confident, top of the class.. exactly where Lewis was pre bullying!! They don't accept bullying.. if there is even a sniff its acted on.. cannot be faulted. Hayden will be following into same school, the walk does get on my nerves some days but their education and the schools commitment to teaching is upper most..

Thanks Emma

I've done some more searching. There is a Primary School about a 10-15 min walk from here but it has not website, so i dont know if if has a preschool. So I'm going to phone them on Monday and if they don't have one ask them what is their local preschool.

I want to get his name down soon, as I don't want him missing out

Have you looked on the Direct.gov website about the above primary school? it'll tell you what age they take then from and forwards you to the ofsted report for that school too Smile

I went on ofsted and looked up reports for schools in this area and it bought up the pre-school report for the above school. so it does have one and a pretty damn good report too.

So i'm phoning them first thing monday

Mari, because he has come along so well already I don't want to hinder his learning in anyway.

He can read one word already (which i think is good but the word is so random!) he's counting to 11 and he remembers everything when told once.

I just love he can tell the difference between a goat and a sheep, a pony and a horse, a cat and a kitten etc.

thank you.

He has no choice in the school he goes to and the start of his education i believe can impact his future education.

I underestimate him sometimes. as I'm not sure where he should be for his age. so i feel bad sometimes when i'm told he's done something and i'm really shocked he can do it.

I'm very proud of his shapes though, we now have circle, square, triangle, star, heart, rectangle (this is the newest one)

i'd give the school a call like you say, a good pre-school can set them up for their attitude to education so its important to get it right
