I am sure by Lewis age H was trying to say words and understanding things we said. Lewis isn't trying at all, he hasn't tried to say anything. Should I be worried? X

No hun - at Lewis' age Thomas didn't say anything - didn't even babble all that much. He learned to say Daddy at about 16 months and that was his only word until 22 months when he actually started to try to copy our sounds for the first time. Since he turned 2 he hasn't shut up and can now hold 20 minute phone conversations with his grandad about cars, the weather and gardening Rolling Eyes Laughing

Hannah hasn't shut up since she was born and started trying to copy sounds at about 10 months Shocked she can say about 10 words now and babbles constantly - OH says she's a typical female Rolling Eyes

Just shows how every kid is different and does things at their own pace - L will be fine - enjoy it while it lasts hun it's not fun having two of them constantly rabbiting in your ear all day Talking 517725

They do say that the second born (and there after) tend to hit milestones much quicker that a first born as they tend to copy their siblings.
But...all kids are different and although some may have started 'practicing' the odd word, some don't practice and just 'soak' it all up and then just start talking proppa words.

I wouldn't worry at all. Smile Enjoy the 'peace' before you get it in stereo Laughing

Stephen has just learned 'bye' but that's all he says. He has just starting babbling a bit more now so I'm hoping he'll try and start saying things but if I try and get him to copy me he has this look that he gives me as if to say 'stop going on woman' Laughing He'll probably just suddenly start coming out with it one day and that will be it! Don't worry xxx

I don't think ellie started trying to talk til she was 18 months now there's no stopping her. But my other two didn't say a blinking word til they were over 2! They've certainly made up for it since though!

I really wouldn't worry Hun x

I wouldn't worry. Mum said I could talk properly (as in using sentences) by 18 months but my younger sister didn't do that until she was closer to 3. My youngest sister was even older but she did have problems with hearing and had speech therapy. I don't know what they say now but they didn't worry then until they were about 2 and a half
