I see hayden somewhere nearer the 36m BUT it depends so much on home, other siblings, social settings.. Hayden holds full blown conversations.. but talks to Lewis or Owen all day. I think these are vague guidelines probably used more for slower speech developing children.

I apparently never spoke until I was nearly 2, then one morning got up and asked my mum for a bowl of cereal as clear as day and haven't stopped talking yet Suspect

I love it when Hayden comes down after arguing with the other 2.

"Lewis won't let me go sboss (xbox) Owen me iPod doo" Lewis wont let mo go on the xbox, Owen gave me the iPod though Very Happy

Gracie was a slow talker and still not hitting all the targets set by that list but can do some of the higher ones but i just think it will come in time

and to lighten it up just think ladies longer it takes to talk the longer it is before they back chat at you lol

I've just had a look through it.

I used to be worried about Amelia's speech. The HV asked if she could say any words at 1 which she couldn't. She did babble insecently but nothing intelligable but since 18 months her speach has exploaded. She constantly astounds me. on Wednesday I was watching TV and there was something on about the Auroraborrealis (sp) which is a 7 syllable word. She repeated it clear as anything. Dave was over too and his yaw hit the floor when he heard her. So anyone who worries when they're little, just be patient and in a few months you'll kind of be wishing they'd be quiet!

Wow didnt expect all these replies!!

I'm really sorry to those that are worried about their little ones speach development, I was just intrigued as I'd read the same as Kate that some preschoolers didnt even know their own name or that they even had a name.

As Lise said, I was shocked when reading the page as Libby hits most points from the 48 months and some from the 60 months, but I personally dont think she's a mini genius (with parents like us it'd impossible Laughing )

Caitlin is doing most of the 24 month stuff, but like Michelle said I cant understand 2/3 of what she says as she is a constant chatterbox and has her own we sayings. If she didnt talk so much then yes I prob would understand 2/3. We can have a basic conversation but and she does some of the older things like names all her body parts, knows all her colours, can reason eg Where are the clothes getting cleaned - In the washing machine mummy. Where do you get clean then? In the shower.

For those that are worried I would remember that they all develop at different rates. Caitlin at 20 months had nowhere near as many words as she hasnow. it amazes me how fast they learn. Dont forget that some of the mummies who have replied saying their children are ahead have 2.5 yr olds - there is a HUGE dif in 21/22 month olds and 2.5/3yr olds. By the time yours are 2.5 you could find they are ahead aswell x
