reading this article, it makes me question how much salt Ava has, she doesn't eat a lot of processed foods, but she does have cheerios as snacks, the odd tin of spaghetti etc, do you monitor how much salt your LO has

No, She eats what we eat. As long as she has a healthy balanced diet, I don't worry too much x

I'm mindful of it. I cook a lot of Amelia's meals from scratch and I never add salt to anything, not even my meals and she eats what I eat most of the time. She also doesn't seem to like things like Beans or tinned spaghetti so I think she's fine

No I don't monitor it but I try not to let any of us eat too much processed food as you never know what you're eating. I'm usually on a diet so cook from scratch so i usually know what ellie is eating. But like you say you do with Ava I also give Ellie cheerios and rice crispies so I'll have to keep a check on those things.

Ellie does love baked beans and sausages so I suppost thats another I should watch!

i am pretty careful about it, i don't monitor everything each day but i do keep a sort of idea (i.e if he has had cheese with one meal i try not to give him it again as its really salty, same with ham, butter if he has it and snacks) we do only buy reduced sugar/salt beans but they are still really high in salt so i don't give him as many as he would like to eat! i definitely don't give elijah regular crisps or anything like that and he doesn't eat ready meals - the closest is probably ellas kitchen pouches or something.

I used to be more careful when she was smaller but now im pretty sure her intake is appauling. I didnt even know ham was salty until this week when Mari was ranting about it Wink

She usually has 1 slice of toast in morning (thats salty), a sandwich at lunch with 2 more slices of bread or beans and toast which has salt... dinner is often pasta with a pre made sauce that must have salt in it, I do try and get the baby ones but im sure they not 100% salt free. If we have veg and potato I dont add salt so thats fine. Erm snacks she has moved on to normal crisps like quavers/wotsits etc so they are salty... She also has takeaway with us once a week or so. When I give her crisps/takeaway im aware its unhealthy, its things like bread, butter,beans/spaghetti hoops etc that throw me a bit as the salt is 'hidden'.

Basically Caitlin has turned into a walking heart attack going by some guidelines! My only saving grace is she eats tons of fruit so that makes me feel better that she is healthy. The fact she could prob be aneamic as doesnt eat much meat or brocolli, calcium deficient as she wont take milk/cheese and now I guess getting more salt than she should im finding quite had to address!

I know shoot me now for giving my child too much bread!
I guess I do need to stop being lazy and cook from scratch more, its just finding the motivation. She didnt eat like this a year ago (I mainly have ella's kitchen, hipp organic and cow and gate to thank for that Laughing ) iv just slipped up a bit in keeping her diet healthy and moving on. Iv no excuse as im a SAHM.

the gasp was for the ahem 'rant' actually Wink but pasta sauce takes seconds, bit of pasatta or puree, onion, garlic, basil and maybe courgette or pepper or whatever and heat it through...just whatever i find in the bottom of the kitchen....plus you can make loads and it keeps/freezes

having said that since i started (unwillingly) *rsing myself to make it rather than buy it from that nice lady ella i have noticed if i use ragu or something its actually nowhere near as nice

eli eats quite a lot of bread too - relative to his size (so erm 1 slice haha) but i think that moderation is the key, i do try not to be 100% mental and protective!

i think its just people giving us another thing to worry about. as long as they have a healthy balanced diet its fine. alfie does has some salty things - he loves sausages and beans, and bread but he also loves grapes, raisins and banana.
