How long should an 8 month old be sleeping for in the day? Jamie seems to want a morning and afternoon nap now and both for at least an hour. If he doesn't get that it makes his sleep at night even worse. This seems a lot but I don't know if its just because he didn't sleep at all initially. It has to be said there's not a lot I can do about it anyway as when he wants to sleep nothing will wake him. He managed to sleep through Adam changing his nappy, getting him dressed and putting him in the car this morning

lol as Tyler got older he slept more - from about 1 ish to recently he was having two 1.5 hour naps and still sleeping from about 7pm to 6.30 ish.

now he'll have one 2 hour nap a day and sleep 11 to 12 at night... it was a shock to me too as he hardly napped when he was younger but it sounds fine to me.

if Tyler doesn't get his nap he's really grumpy come 5 and it's a struggle to get his dinner in to him and like you say he doesn't sleep as well at night!

Imogen naps lots, and always has. At eight months I think she was napping from 11-1.30 and 3-5.30 She slept like that till 18months. Now she has one sleep in the day from 11.30 - 2 (sometimes longer)

I think as long as he sleeps ok at night you don't really have a problem, enjoy the time he's napping and you can get things done, or sleep yourself Smile

Chloe has a nap in the morning for about 2.5hrs and the one in the afternoon for about 2hrs and she sleeps brilliantly at night.

Like Shell said, enjoy the time he's asleep.

yep i think 2 naps is about right, 1-2 hours each depending on what's going on. you will probably find the more active he is the more he needs his snoozes (joy!!! Very Happy)

it's only since 12/13 months elijah has only needed/wanted one nap a day and if hes poorly/been very busy/hasn't slept well (haha i did a funny), he will still have two of anything up to 2 hours each, normally just one either just before or after lunch though at about 2 hours. i think at 8 months 3-4 hours sleep is about right though during the day Very Happy

Yeah it sounds better than it is because I do normally have to lay down on the bed to get him to partially go to sleep before I put him down.

NayNay he is getting better (well he was before these teeth - it was hourly last night). Its been common to get at least one 3 or 4 hour stint and a couple of other two or even three hour ones
