Wat is your daily food routine? _
PostSubject: Wat is your daily food routine?   Wat is your daily food routine? EmptySat Sep 10, 2011 4:03 am

i have had problems with Lexy & her being constipated!! had a bad case yesterday with ehr screaming in pain. doctor gave her some medicine but also said i should review her diet plan.

i dont think i give her 'that' much crap to eat?

she has her milk in the morn followed by either toast or cereal, luch is usually a sandwich with ham & a babybel & a few crisps/choc bar and dinner csn be anything from pasta to pie to fish fingers?!

She wont eat mince meat so everytime i do spag bowl or shepards pie etc she wont eat it... and i dont want to force feed her if she generally dosnt like it. i dont feel she gets enough veg! She is always eating fruit & drinking juice.

any suggestions are appreciated Very Happy

if i feel that there isn't enough veg in elijah's food i will boil a handful of frozen mixed veg (only need to boil it for 4 minutes), sometimes i mix it with pasatta which we always have a carton of in the fridge. you could also try branflakes in the morning, they are really sweet and elijah loves them, and brown bread rather than white if she has white normally.

you could also do veggie spag bol etc as veggie mince is a bit softer and eli seems to prefer it (plus its full of protein and lower in fat and salt) or just put carrots, pasatta, courgette, tomatos, mushrooms, onions, peppers and any other stuff you find around Laughing in with some garlic and/or basil then add to pasta. you can make that kind of thing in advance too and it keeps for ages in the fridge or freezer so very quick and easy Smile

we quite often make little pizzas which are good fun to 'help' make, so you are using tomatos, plus spinach, brocolli, mushrooms, onion, peppers, anything really and you can either 'hide' them under a bit of cheese or get little one involved in making them, if you buy the bases they only take 10 minutes in the oven.

omlettes are good too for adding veg to, and vegetable fingers (frozen in breadcrumbs) rather than fish fingers, apparently frozen veg is as good as fresh and sometimes its easier to have as it doesn't go off plus you can get peas, mixed veg, broccoli, spinach etc and just chuck a handful in here and there. hope that helps Very Happy

^ just one more thought, have you tried her with a little prune juice or some prunes in yogurt or rice? that would help a lot and the juice/syrup is really sweet so she might like it

Sorry, don't know what to suggest. Lexy has a very similar diet to Ellie and Ellie doesn't get constipated. Maybe try her with diluted fresh orange juice.

Hope you get it sorted xx

Libby's diet is very similar to Lexy's and she too gets constipated.

I usually give her Shreddies, loads of grapes, apples, baked beans seem to help too, I also make sure shes drinks plenty too.

Hope it gets better for her soon, its awful seeing them in pain and being so helpless.

I would suggest maybe some more fruit if she doesnt get enough (you say she does but I didnt know if thats what you meant as wasn't in the lost sorry!)? What about swapping the crisps/choc for fruit, or something like some peas in pods (when you can get them)

Also I offer fruit after breakfast and more often than not she has some

It is hard to get veg in them..Izzy scoffs lots of carrots, brocoli, peas and potatoes and I try to put swede in a casserole for something different ... but to be honest I don't buy cabbage and cauliflower as often as I really should - and she likes them so I should try harder! I dont really get a massive range of veg other than whats mentioned there

Veggie soup is a good way, I just boil up a load of spuds, carrots, onion, what ever is there, etc put in a veggie stock and blend with a small amount of water, then add something like croutons if you like, or just with nice bread... Izzy likes that anyway!

Fruit smoothies are great for constipation, and always get Chloe moving if she's a little backed up. Try and limit the amount of processed meat like ham as it's quite harsh on their digestive system, crisps aren't great either, maybe swap for raisins or grapes and follow up with a yoghurt. Plenty of water to drink will help too.

i can't see why not it's just yogurt, prunes and brown rice - the texture is just like yogurt so you could add it to rice pudding or just have it on its own, its really sweet so she might quite like it Smile

Arhh hun,

Try fresh fish with potatoes veg and parsley sauce i know noah loves it and its very healthy.

I would suggest some fruit instead of a choco or crisps.

Noah would have Milk in the morning

Toast and a banana, i do need to give him more cereal tho only has it 2 twice a week he just gets the milk every were lol. Try giving her weetabixs there rich in fibre will help with constipation.

Lunch would have either sandwich or pasta with yogurts

Dinner is what we have

Char

dita gets really constipated and luckily she hasnt done for quite a while since she has raisins daily (asda good stuff ones - they are bigger and softer then the little boxes) and also we give her 2 cups of fresh fruit juice a day, all random tropicana flavours lol.

But constipation can be as much about fluids, does she drink plenty? Try offering her lots of drinks throughout the day xx
