should I be worried : Bullying?? _
PostSubject: should I be worried : Bullying??   should I be worried : Bullying?? EmptyThu Oct 07, 2010 11:19 pm

So Jaiden is getting on really well at school since he started about 3 weeks ago This week there have been 2 incidents the 1st was at the beginning of the week when Jaiden told me that a boy had hit him on the head with a toy frying pan which was dealt with

Then today when i went to get him I noticed a couple of red scratches by his eye When i asked him what happened he just didnt want to tell me so I had to go ask the teacher It wasnt Jaidens teacher she said "she wasnt sure what happened but do i want to leave it till tomorrow when jaidens teacher would b available as she dealt with it?"

Of course I said no find out what happened and call me back

So she did and was told that Jaiden was playing nicely with some duplo bricks and a boy just came over took a brick and smashed it into Jaidens face Evil or Very Mad

Now I dont want to sound like an over protective mother but I was not happy that I wasnt told I had to ask about it and I just dont want him to b picked on or bullied Do u think this could be the start of it or is it just boys being boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasnt the same boy

The last thing I want to happen is for him to decide he doesnt like or want to go to school coz he is worrying about things like that happening

please help XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

i think boys can be more aggresive. obviously these boys have witnessed hitting already (maybe at home) and dont know any different. maybe they havent socialised with kids much before and them hitting is just their way of interacting and communicating (which is wrong). i dont think it is bullying as such just them establishing a hierachy ( if you know what i mean). i woudl ask the teacher to have a word with their parents as they have ultimate responsibility for the boys ' behaviour. noticed your poll and i dont condone hitting back, 2 wrongs dont make a right. if you tell Jaiden to hit back you're basically saying it is acceptable behaviour xx

yeah thats just what i dont want to do I totally agree with you that it just makes it acceptable!!

Im just really worried that it will go the worse way for him and as ive had to deal with it myself I dont want him to have to be feeling like that about school already XX

Im sure it will sort itself out as you say

awww i know - just be honest with him and explain its naughty to hit and to always tell the teacher. it sounds like Jaiden isnt the aggressive type so i wouldnt worry too much about him starting to lash out. Maybe chat with him each day about any naughty boys in his class and what were they doing or saying today, you might be able to pick up clues if theres anything underlining why they target Jaiden. Are these boys doing it to any other kids?? x

awww i got all this to come Rolling Eyes Laughing he'll be fine, you just got to read between the lines. if you make him feel confident about himself and praise him ( which im sure you do anyway) it will help him stay strong and feel comfortable when faced with a confrontation xx

If all avenues are met..ie with teachers..parents..school admin...and nothing changes...by all means tell Jaiden to hit back! Remember how it felt to be picked on or bullied? How even when the parents and teachers meet and discuss..that sometimes it just escalated the situation as the tormentor uses it as fuel for the fire and bullies even more. I have dealt with this with Matt all thru elementary and middle school, and none of it stopped till Matt finally snapped and flipped out on his bully. I did get called into the office and when the principal was telling me what happened, I simply said GOOD! I have taught my children to resolve conflicts the diplomatic way first, when all else fails and there is no alternatives left, the gloves can come off. xxx
