All day calls from loan people saying I have applied for a loan - I told then I hadn't and please remove my name - 1st just thought it was cold calling but then after the 4th one realised it wasn't - they said an application had been made online.

Now thing is it was my phone number of course - the only place I have put my details in recently is on Monday I was getting car insurance quotes from those sites like gocompare

I am not overly worried as they have my number so I don't think its like an identity theft cos they'd surely not have given my telephone number lol

Has anyone had this before after using online things like insurance quotes?!

i regret 100 % putting my details into those search sites ,, for weeks after i was plagued with ppl calling for everything

oh no, so seems like it probably was that!

I am not exaggerating when I say we have had 20 calls today!

I used to get the saying I have been pre-approved. Lisa it might be worth getting a copy of your credit report just to see if any credit checks have been carried out in your name...just to be on the safe side

Can you ask the caller where they got your number? That is concerning.

hun i'd ask for more details, like the address they have for you,

we had post at the old house for a year in a persons different name and then one day a lady came ot the door and asked for this lady, i explained that she didnt live there but we did have post for her, it turned out she was the lady and they were using our address as a billing address for a mail order catalogue and a different address for delivery.

we opened the post and found they were court summons and all sorts.
she was a police officer and they were investigating it, but makes you wonder about putting details in to searches.

They say I applied online and thats all they would say - maybe one of those stupid boxes you have to tick to say you dont want something? I dunno I just had no idea insurance websites would do that!

oh! just found some emails in my junk folder too hmmmm right like I spent 3 hours applying for loans on all these websites
