Talking in bed _
PostSubject: Talking in bed   Talking in bed EmptyThu Dec 16, 2010 10:57 am

Izzy used to just be put in the cot and before I got downstairs she was quiet and then went to sleep

Since she has been in her new room, which she loves, she is still in her cot but she goes to bed at 8 and talks/sings etc for a whole hour or so...it was 9 when she went quiet tonight!

I am hoping its just cos she is excited being in her new room , this is only night 3, rather than a real change! (not that she can see anything cos its blacked out with just a night light)

She was supposed to be moving to her big bed tonight, but didnt due to Argos fecking up the mattress delivery its not arriving til 23rd. Im thinking this is a blessing in disguise and that the next week she will settle back to going to sleep straight away, I know she is tired when she goes down. Im worried if this carries on I wont want to put her i the bed cos if she is awake chances are she will out of the bed and mess the whole big bed training up!

Do your toddlers talk and sing to themselves for ages before going to slep? If so did it hinder getting them to go to sleep in a big bed?

Can you tell I am shitting it about her going in the big bed?! Laughing

Libby did and still does chat in her cot/bed, even now she will sit for upto an hour chatting and pottering about in bed - I dont know what she's doing because her bedroom is pitch black scratch

With regards to moving to her big bed - we didnt realise how lucky we were! We started by giving her the nap in her bed that day and she took to that brilliantly and then that same night we honestly wouldn't have known any different, she went down no problem at all.

She's a very strange one in that once shes in bed she wont get out EVER until we've gone in and either opened her blind or said 'come on then'. Even in the mornings she shouts 'mummy, morning!' but wont get out til I go in there (sometimes I would love for her to get out and come and jump on our bed Laughing )

Good luck when you do go for it hun xxxx

Laughing Laughing i fully intend to 'tuck her in' tightly...she might be able to get out!

I remember when we were small we stayed at my Nains quite often and she had blankets, not duvets...me and my sister in a double bed...once you were tucked in that was it til morning, no escape!

Its really strange - I dont know why she does it scratch

This morning was quite funny, she was shouting her usual 'Mummy, morning!!' so I shouted back 'Yes Libby, I'm coming!' and she came out with 'Wait' Laughing

Hmm I dont think that would work as she has 2 naps midday and around 5pm.

Its odd cos I know she is really tired

Last night she went out as usual - so hopefully it was the excitement of her new room!

Oliver can be like that too, some times he's out like a light before i'm downstairs but then other's (which has been quite often lately) he will chat to himself for a good hour or so.Last night it was 1hr 1/2 scratch He seems tiered when he has his milk downstairs but obviously has a lot on his mind when he goes to bed Laughing

Oliver's like Libby though and he won't get out of bed, he just lays there yabbering quite happily.
But because its been happening quite often, and seems to be loosing out on sleep I tend to pop him down for naps about 1/2hr earlier if he's had a 'disturbed' night.

I wouldn't worry tbh, going into a new bed is quite 'life changing' for them (and us Rolling Eyes Laughing ) so you will probably get a bit of disturbed sleep what ever...but it does pass Wink
