She is so funny ! But seriously, her speech is so advanced! There is no way Caitlin will be talking like that in 3 months, or 6 months for that matter! Caitlin babbled from an early age and I was convinced she would talk early. Id say that she has 10 words that she has consistently said at one stage... mama, dada, yes, no, shoe, sock, cat, ball, bowl, stuck, two (eg I say one she says two), carrot, car...

The last 2-3 wks though she seems to be nearly going backwards eg all she says is - yes/no/mama/dada/stuck... I suppose though what more does she need to say lol.

Did C's speech just happen (well you know what I mean!) or did you spend hrs teaching her words, playing word games etc to bring her speech on? I read alot to Caitlin and even if she watching TV I try to talk through whats happening but im not even sure she listens/cares lol.

Hey mate

Um i dont think i really did much different to anyone else. Ive always sung to her from tiny and ive always spoken loads to her and if she says something like tree i expand on it saying 'yes thats a tree, its got green leaves' etc but i doubt thats any different to what everyone else does.

I mostly speak quite adult to her, of course i do baby talk sometimes but i also explain thngs like why the trees have no leaves now or what snow is figuring she wont understand it now but its all chat and eventually she will. I do spend a lot of time counting and naming thngs when she points them out. She watches beebies from 7-930 in morning and is allowed it again before bed and sometimes i think they teach her as much as i do cos she often says things she has to have gotten from there cos its not come from me. Case in point she said 'punch' the other day and whacked her dad in the head. |Neither of us has done it nor anyone i know and we figured in the end it was part of a boogie beebies warm up.

Suppose the only other thing i can think of is that she has a reading programme on her computer called little reader which is audio and visual and she does it a few times a week but i wouldnt have thought that was that much different from the books i read her. Think shes just a natural talker like me lol. She didnt walk til gone 17 months so i guess she just put all her energy into talking instead.
