Hi ladies

well we seem to have come on really well with food in the past few weeks. hes now happily taking lumpy food and is eating practically everything we eat. today we went out for sundays dinner and he had his own little plate of food and was sitting in his high chair and looking so grown up!

the issues is tho that he wont feed himself finger foods. if i put food on his tray he just looks as it and then cries cos he wants it but wont atually get it himself. ive tried everything - giving him a little taste sio he knows its food, eating at the same time so he sees me doing it. today he had a carrit stick which he just squished up in his hand and that was it.

he will happily eat almost anything if i hold it for him or put it into his mouth. he loves the organix cheese puffs and will eat a whole one if i put it in his mouth but if i put it in his hand he just drops it.

everything else seems to go into his mouth!

any advice?

x

i would just persevere personally - when he is sitting in his highchair for example and you are busy doing something (dishes or something so you aren't far away) just put some snacks on his tray - he will be interested enough to play with them and eventually he will put one in his mouth by accident!

it sounds like you might get some grumbles if he wants you to do it for him, but maybe you need to leave him to do it? i dont know because elijah will feed himself anything (anything!) and we have the opposite problem of him not letting us feed him...maybe just stick to feeding alfie stuff from a spoon/bowl and leave snacks for him to do himself - his curiosity/greed should eventually get the better of him! Laughing
