| Hiya,
Just a query really, what would you class as babble and what as talking? What is the definition of babble?
Its just when i went to sophia's parents morning, they said she babbles lots but not talking as such. However at home she says quite a few clear words and then lots of beginnings of words, but they are definately more than sounds because she attaches them to objects and actions (ie bu and points at a bus, go! and pushes my parner out the room)
So i was just wondering, would you say her beginnings of words are babbling or words? I would say words as she clearly shows what she means. I thought babbling was just sounds but not necessarily understanding meaning of sound?
What do you guys think?
Doesnt really matter, just got me wondering really.

| id say babbling is when they are basically having a convo with you and you dont have a clue what theyre saying if you can tell what she means, or she just says part of the word but it is clear what she's refering to then id say proper talking xx |

| Yeh I agree with gemz - if I cant understand what she is saying at all then its babble..but if I know what she is trying to say then thats learning to talk! |

| I agree with Lisa and Gemz that if you can make out what she is saying and she is attaching the words to something then it is talking.
Her pronounciation may not be good yet but it is more than babbling.
Chances are that you understand what she is saying better than anyone because you know her better so you are more likely to notice when she attaches words to things. |
