Well got there 915 and they weighed her and little fattys gained 120z in 2 weeks and jumped from 9th to 25th centile. 16lb 8oz now. They said leave her in just a nappy doc is calling you in in a mo so sat in waiting room with awen looking like a feral beast jumping up and down on my legs in just a nappy and an amber bead necklace. Consultant came out and gave me the oddest look that I was sat there with a half naked very excited baby, had to drag all the clothes and stuff in under one arm while holding a wriggling kraken under the other.

So anyway got in there and she asked about her leg and i went through how it twitches/kicks at random times during the day but worse when shes tired or frustrated. She asked if it stops if i hold it and I said no it kicks under my hand and its woken her from sleep/kept her awake before now. She asked if she loses consciousness and i said no it doesnt look like a seizure to me and theres no family history. She asked about her histroy and I said just the reflux and family history which is caelyns reflux and a strong family history of hip dysplasia. She asked if anything eases it and I said rubbing her hip settles it a little. She said what was it like when she stands and I explained how now shes started walking with hands being held it bounces on the floor when she tries to step on that leg so hapens when she weight bears too. She asked if i had any other concerns or had noticed any other twitches and I said not really, she likes to slap with her left hand but i doubt thats a tic just her being a thug and shes obviously a south paw and her sitting balance isnt great but shes too busy being a henchbaby to sit still but otherwise shes developmentally doing great she coos and babbles, has started the odd sound mama dada etc and is crawling, pulling to stand and will walk after a fashion holding your hands so is actually brill which is why id seen HV not GP as i hadnt been that worried.

Anyway she then examined her and said shes a wee gem and would make a fab exam baby for teaching junior docs as shes so easy going just laid there smiling and eating a stethoscope. She said her exam looks totally normal which is great.

She then said shes not convinced its anything to be over worried about but is considering a couple of options. Firstly theres something called Benign Myoclonic Jerks which is like a form of epilepsy as far as I know but not a full fitting form where limbs can jerk randomly. So shes booking her in for an EEG test where they put the electrodes on their head to monitor the brain activity to look for signs of that. She also wants to send her for an xray as she was cleared for congenital hip dysplasia which one of my sisters has but could have developmental hip dysplasia which comes on later and we suspect my other sis has as hers wasnt picked up til her teens after an initial clear check as a baby and if she does could be getting muscle spasms from it. So shes gotta have these two tests and shes booked a follow up for 3 months but if i ring her secretary once the tests are done she will try and pull it forward to give me the results.

She said if its not those its probably nothing to worry about and she will grow out of it. I have to try and get a video of it. Ive caught a little bit of one but its hard to see it just looks like she is kicking so she wants one as shes going to sleep, unfortunately she started doing it as she was falling asleep tonight but was all swaddled in her grobag and i had no phone so missed the chance. So gonna put her down in a vest at bedtime tommorrow to try and catch it before i settle her properly but if not will just have to persevere. She did ask if anyone else had seen it and I said of course they had even my best mate who is also a nurse has commented on it. Obviously I have munchausens by proxy cos i dont see enough of the frigging hossie

So thats it for now. I did ask about restless legs but she said thats more of an adult thing though ive read some proper research citations about it in kids but shes obv not considering it. So not totally sure what to think. Obv the EEG is a worry as is the thought of hip dysplasia again which i thought id laid to rest with the scan and I was kind of expecting to be told oh its nowt dont be daft and sent away which id have preferred to be honest. But at least they are looking into it and hopefully it will all be negative as I would really prefer to be told shes just a twitchy beggar and stop being silly.

well glad theyre not too worried!! oliver used to get twitchy legs,aparentley its because theyre nervous system is still maturing...so hopefully just that and nothing too serious x

Rich had an EEG When he was 2/3, it's more worrying for the mother I thought, but least you know they being thorough, hope appts come through quickly x

well as you say its good that they are looking into it - although a 'stop being so silly' would have been nice. hope the tests come back fine. bit of a weird seizure if its just in the one leg at particular times?! anyway, im no doctor but by the time these tests come round by the sounds of it awen is going to be up and walking so you should be able to see if there is an ongoing problem xxx (errr was that helpful?! sorry)
