Had to call an ambulance for the first time today, we were just clearing up after dinner when someone started hammering on our door, pretty scary as it sounded like they were breaking it down! As we were unlocking we heard him shout "call an ambulance!" so I'm on the phone to the ambulance people before we've even got the door open (had to tell them i'd no idea why i was calling yet as we hadn't got the door open
must have sounded like a right moron!)
When we got the door open there was a man lying in the road with something beside him, I was trying to explain to the 999 operator what was going on while peering out into the dark, when I realised it was a pram
.. thankfully it was upright, but the dad was lying in the road, our neighbour was putting him in the recovery position while I'm shouting to see if the baby is ok. Turned out the guy was epileptic and had had a fit, fallen over and bumped his head - he was talking and could give his name and how old the baby was but wasn't very lucid aside from that. We brought the pram into our living room (with dad's permission, we don't have a hallway, we're straight out onto the street so his dad could still see him) to keep baby warm but he was snoring away quite happily, thank god. The paramedics were here quite quickly to help him, and the man's dad and baby's mum weren't far after that. Didn't find out until after that the pram had fallen over too
Poor little baby, it was a quite sturdy quinny and he was well padded so hopefully he didn't feel too much of a bump but how scary!
Turns out the man had not long left his parents house to walk the baby home, and our neighbour had found him only a minute or two after he'd had the fit, and he was pretty lucky as if he'd gone a bit further he would have been on quite a dark footpath and I can't bear to think if no-one had seen him for ages - of course for his sake but also for the baby
Thank god our neighbour had found him, and thank god they were both ok!
